The victims say they were referred to Wipe Out Windows by workers at the Vicksburg Win Job Center.

Warning issued after scam targets unemployed: The Mississippi Department of Employment Security is warning its WIN Job Center clients about a recent scam targeting job seekers. The warning came after several job hunters had money stolen after being referred to high-paying jobs with a Florida based company. The victims say they were referred to Wipe Out Windows by workers at the Vicksburg Win Job Center, but the contact person for the company was apparently bogus and didn't show up as promised to certify the workers Monday.

The Mississippi Department of Employment Security posted a warning on its website.

Each of the men borrowed more than $60 and wired it to get trained and certified to work with the window washing company they thought was coming to Vicksburg. Instead, the men were stood up and ripped off. "Wipe Out Windows out of Florida was coming Vicksburg, but the hitch is they wanted you to pay for a background check. We had to pay $61 for our certification class today," said job hunter Joshua Pearson. The Mississippi Department of Employment Security posted a warning on its website saying you don't have to pay to apply for the jobs Win Job Centers refer you to. Executive Director of MDES Les Range said the matter has been referred to the department's legal department.
