This year "after window wars" follows the company take over. The little fish from last years film, Peter Artusa was asked the question: Did the little fish eat the big fish? Window Cleaning Rig Drops On Worker

A worker was injured when equipment fell from window-washing apparatus on the Hancock Building.

Worker Hurt By Gear Falling From Hancock Building Window Washing Apparatus (Boston) – A worker was injured outside the Hancock Building Saturday morning when a piece of scaffolding equipment fell and hit him. The 62-year-old supervisor for Boston Properties suffered shoulder and arm injuries after equipment fell from the window-washing apparatus when one end let go and tipped. The apparatus was suspended about 15-foot off the ground on Clarendon Street when the equipment fell. The man was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital with what was described as non-life-threatening injuries, according to Boston EMS.

The John Hancock Tower, officially named Hancock Place and colloquially known as The Hancock, is a 60-story, 790 ft (240 m) skyscraper in Boston.

A window-washing rig on the John Hancock Tower injured a worker on the ground Saturday morning, after one side of it suddenly dropped, the Boston Globe reports. Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald told Boston.com the unidentified man was working on scaffolding from an L-shaped staging area on the ground, when an attached window-washing platform, extended about 15 feet in the air, fell over, hitting the worker. He did not suffer life-threatening injuries and was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The incident occurred around 10:17 a.m. “It weighed a good deal,” MacDonald said. MacDonald said he did not know the cause of the accident and could not identify the company or the worker.

A window-washing rig on the John Hancock Tower hanging about 20 feet high struck a worker on the ground this morning after one side of it suddenly dropped, according to the Boston Fire Department. Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald said the worker, who suffered non life threatening injuries when the incident occurred at 10:17, works for the window-washing company. Boston EMS confirmed that he was transferred by ambulance to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He did not know whether anyone was in the rig at the time.

“[The rig] is parallel with the building and one end shifts, so it was almost at a 45 degree angle,” MacDonald said. MacDonald said he did not know if the worker on the ground was adjusting the rig’s position when it dropped or the specific cause for the accident, and he could not identify the company or the worker. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident.

Window Cleaner Donates - No Bucket Of Water Required

Michael Mears is urging people to donate bone marrow.

Ely window cleaner writes about his experience of donating bone marrow to help leukaemia sufferer and urges others to follow: While Michael Mears, 23, was in hospital, he took the time to write about his experience.

He posted the following message on the Bone Marrow Registry Awareness and Outreach Facebook page: “Hello there, my name is Michael Mears and I recently donated my bone marrow. I am now trying to dispel some of the many myths behind donating bone marrow, myths which often hold people back when it comes to applying to join the register. “This might be a bit of an awkward read as I am typing one handed but bare with it. As some of you know I am currently in Kings College Hospital in London.

“For those who don’t know the reason I am donating bone marrow after being found to match a patient with blood cancer - leukaemia. “I wanted to write about my experience, dispelling the myths that prevent others from doing this and give you a few facts. “A lot of people have told me how painful it is. It’s not, I have the pain threshold of a child, so when I say the most you feel is a prick and some aching you know it’s not that bad.

“Regarding a spinal tap, this is utter nonsense. The tests no longer involve a spinal tap. This was the case over a decade ago, not any more. “To the people who take delight in spreading these myths it goes beyond a joke and needs to stop. It is anything but a joke when people are being put off donating purely out of misplaced fears.

Window cleaner, Michael Mears is urging people to donate bone marrow.

“Now, I have to admit, I have never given blood, I have always been one of those people who says I’ll get around to it but never has. “That is something I intend to rectify because there is no reason not to. “With bone marrow and stem cells the match rate is nothing like blood types.

“I believe the figure is one in 5000 people are a match for bone marrow. So when someone needs a transfusion there is the potential to be 4,999 non matches. The attitude of someone else will do it doesn’t work. “Getting tested for a match is easy. Go online, search delete blood cancer or Anthony Nolan, apply for a test kit. “When you get this kit, it contains several swab sticks which you rub as instructed to collect samples. “It takes five minutes including the time to post it back in the prepaid envelope.

“You might not be matched for months, years or at all, but if you are matched you can potentially save a life. “This could be anyone, a boy, girl, man, woman, black, white, Asian, Indian -you get it - anyone. “I implore all my friends to get tested. Please, you can opt out at any time. I still could right now as I sit hooked up to the centrifugal system. “You have nothing to lose by being tested. Countless people are praying for a match to come forwards, you might be that match.”

New Jersey Window Washer Rescue

Window washer dangling from Trenton high-rise is rescued (Trenton, NJ) — A window washer was stuck hanging in the air between the 8th and 9th floors of an office building in downtown Trenton for more than half an hour this afternoon before being rescued. The man was washing windows on the Mary Roebling building at 20 W. State St., at the corner with North Warren Street, when his rigging failed, Battalion Chief Ron Kosztyu said. Fire crews were called just after 4 p.m. and found him suspended on the outside of the building.

With a small crowd watching from the sidewalk below, firefighters first extended a ladder toward the man, which was not quite long enough to reach him. The crews went in through the building to a roof ledge on the 9th floor, above the spot where the window washer was hanging, and were able to pull him to safety, Kosztyu said. They initially thought the man was unconscious, but he told them he never lost consciousness, and he was able to help himself onto the roof, Kosztyu said.

Witnesses in the crowd said the man had been hanging off the building for 15 minutes before the fire crews arrived. The man exited the back of the building after the rescue and declined to be interviewed. His name and the company he works for were not released.

Trenton firefighters rescue stuck window washer — A window washer working on the Mary Roebling building on West State Street had to be rescued by Trenton firefighters after getting stuck between the eighth and ninth floor Monday afternoon.

Engines 1 and 10, Ladder 4 and Rescue 1 were called to the first block of West State Street around 4:00 p.m. to find the man dangling in his safety harness. The man was stuck due to a jam in his safety harness that left him unable to lower himself to the ground. Ladder 4 initially attempted to reach the man, but the ladder came up short. “Our ladder is 100 feet long and he was about 20 feet higher than us,” Btl. Chief Ron Kosztyu said.

To get the man to safety, crews threw a safety line to him and set up a hauling system on the roof to pull him upwards. “Since he was a window washer, he could do the rigging himself when we threw him a line,” Kosztyu said. Initially, firefighters thought the worker was unconscious because he did not appear to be moving, but once the worker got on the roof, he said never lost consciousness, Kosztyu said. After 45 minutes of hanging in his harness, the man was pulled to safety. There were no reported injuries.
