Window Cleaner Arrested For Dropping Chemical

Three hit by bottle of cleaning fluid (Hong Kong): Police have arrested a man after a bottle of cleaning fluid fell onto a street and injured three pedestrians. Two women and a man were walking past a building on Castle Peak Road in Yuen Long when the bottle fell from above, splashing them with liquid.

The three had red marks on been their hands and bodies and called the police after suspecting the bottle contained a corrosive fluid. They were treated at the scene for minor injuries and didn't need to be taken to hospital. Police believe the worker had been cleaning the window on the tenth floor when he accidentally dropped the bottle.

Police say they have shut down a suspected illegal lab which was producing booze from window cleaning fluid. Cops who searched a garage in the Vilnius suburb of Markuciai on Friday found 160 litres of what they said was a clear fluid containing mostly ethyl alcohol, produced by mixing chlorine and vinegar with window surface cleaner. They also found 900 litres of blue-coloured cleaning fluid in the same garage. Officials say the illegal cocktail is typically sold to middlemen for 8-10 litas per litre. It is then diluted and sold on to people who suffer from severe alcohol dependency.
