The West Vancouver Police Department is warning residents to be on the lookout for individuals offering unsolicited home and garden work after a suspicious break-and-enter last week.
Following the incident, which occurred in the 6900-block of Marine Drive, residents in the surrounding area reported seeing a suspicious man in the neighbourhood two days prior. The individual was reportedly offering window washing to residents, saying he had worked in the neighbourhood before. However, police canvassed the neighbourhood following the break-and-enter and it was determined that he had not worked for residents in the area previously. One resident did end up hiring the man but subsequently fired him when he discovered water damage inside his home. Another resident saw the individual peering into and knocking on an open sliding door. However, when confronted, the man said he was offering window washing and that was why he was on the property. He left the area soon after. The WVPD has not connected this individual with the break-and-enter but said that he is "considered a person of interest" at this point. The individual is described as Caucasian and in his early 40s. He was clean-shaven and wore dark clothes with a brimless beige cloth hat.
