In a recent article by The Jakarta Post, a cleaner was killed after a window cleaning gondola fell from the 23rd floor of the Intiland Tower located in Indonesia. The incident occurred on Wednesday at 11:15 AM.

According to key persons, the gondola was purchased a year ago and had never been used before the accident. “Last week, the gondola was repaired. It was the first time the thing was used after the repair. It was in a good condition,” he was reported as saying. A corporate public relations officer said the building’s management was still seeking an explanation for the cause of the accident from the contractor that repaired the gondola.

“Yes, there was an accident and one man was killed,” said the detective head of the Police office in Central Jakarta, on Wednesday. There has been no talk as of yet at who his responsible for the accident. 

Killed By Falling Glass

A piece of glass fell & killed a schoolgirl when a housemaid was cleaning a window from the 20th floor: The victim was pronounced dead at the scene in Zhuhai, China, on Saturday when she was struck while walking to an extracurricular class with her two siblings.

A 11-year-old girl has been tragically killed after a pane of glass fell from a 20th floor flat and hit her in the head in a Chinese city. The glass was thought to have dropped when a housemaid was cleaning a window in a residential high-rise in Zhuhai, southern China, on June 18, reported the People's Daily Online.

According to the report, the school girl was walking on Leyuan Road in Xiangshou District, Zhuhai, together with her two siblings. She was struck by the glass at around 10am.  An eyewitness, with the surname Luo, said he heard a loud bang from a distance. He said after he rushed over, he saw a girl lying on a pedestrian crossing covered in blood. Her siblings were crying in shock next to her.

Unexpected tragedy: The girl was on her way to an extracurricular class when the accident occurred.

An ambulance was immediately called by Mr Luo, but paramedics were unable to save the girl, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's younger brother, who witness the tragic accident, told a reporter that the trio were crossing the road in front of the residential compound when his sister got struck. 

The Zhuhai Public Security Bureau confirmed the accident on June 18 through its official account on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent to Twitter. A later post from the police authority confirmed the cause of the accident. It read: 'After initial investigation, the glass had fallen from a house on the 20th floor in building number 2 at Hengfu Court on Leyuan Road.' Chinese media suggested that a housemaid was cleaning the window for a family living on the 20th floor when the glass dropped. Further investigations are being carried out by the police.

Shaanxi window cleaners die after gust of wind sends them flying into building: Two window cleaners at a high-rise in Xi'an, Shaanxi province died last Friday afternoon after a strong wind sent the dangling workers flying back and forth mid-air until they crashed into the building. The two workers were among about a dozen others who'd been cleaning the exterior of the 270-meter high Greenland Center commercial building when a strong wind picked up at around 5:20 p.m., according to a witness cited in an SCMP report.

“The men’s ropes might have become tangled after they were first blown around by the wind,” said the witness. The two workers cried for help and struggled in the wind for around 20 minutes before they were thrown against the building. “It was just like two pieces of clothes hanging there. I think the two died immediately,” he said.

The workers were on the 12th and 15th floors at the time of the incident, People's Daily reports. Local police confirmed that the cleaners died amid bad weather.

While it pretty much goes without saying, window cleaners have a terrifying job. In April, a viral video showed the moment a strong bout of wind sent an elevated working platform swinging through the air until it was flung against a window on the 91st floor of Shanghai's World Financial Center. The two window cleaners on the platform fortunately managed to walk away with only minor injuries.

Pressure Washer Shot, Stabbed & Killed In L.A.

The victim was helping to pressure wash the parking structure prior to the shooting, according to Lt. Jim Gavin of the LAPD. His coworkers were upstairs when they noticed the water pressure had dropped. When they returned to the truck, they found the victim with gunshot wounds and called police, Gavin said.

Attacker Shoots, Stabs Man Cleaning Target Parking Lot: A member of cleaning crew was shot and stabbed early Tuesday outside a Target store parking garage in Van Nuys. The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was found on the ground next to his Fleetwash pickup. He was hospitalized in critical condition after the shooting in the 5700 block of Sepulveda Boulevard. The man in his 40s, identified by police as a member of a private cleaning crew, later died at the hospital.

The worker was cleaning the lot with a high-pressure hose when the attacker approached from behind and opened fire, police said. His co-workers were inside the building at the time of the shooting and stabbing, police said. They likely did not hear gunfire because of the noise made by the high-pressure washer. "They noticed the pressure in the hose had been reduced," said Lt. Jim Gavin. "They went out to see if he was ok, and that's when they found him with several gunshot wounds."

One person was in custody after the 5 a.m. shooting, according to police. The individual, who was found in the pickup, might have been under the influence of bath salts (window cleaner), a synthetic drug, police told NBC4. There doesn't appear to be any connection between the suspect, who is a reputed gang member, and the victim, who was not connected to any gang, police said.

Man Fatally Shot, Stabbed Outside Van Nuys Target Store: When officers arrived on scene, they found the suspect on the passenger side of the vehicle. He tried to flee the scene, but officers tackled him and arrested him. The victim was transported to Holy Cross Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released. The unidentified suspect, who authorities believe was under the influence of narcotics, was taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Police do not believe the suspect and the victim knew each other. A gun and knife were recovered at the scene.

Yesterday, a man in his early 40′s was shot just outside the Target store in Van Nuys. According to Lt. Jim Gavin of the LAPD, the victim was pressure washing the outside structure of the Target store. Gavin stated this appeared to be a random shooting, and there’s no indication that the victim and suspect knew each other.

Shanghai Window Washers Killed In Accidental Fall

Two Shanghai window washers killed in accidental fall (Warning: Graphic images): Around 1:40pm this afternoon two window washers working outside the Pacific Business Center on Yan'an Road were killed when they fell from an unknown height onto a car parked below. Witnesses told reporters that they heard a loud band and then found the men lying on the ground -- their broken rope hanging from the 26 story building they were working on. Immediately after the fall, one of the men was reportedly showing signs of life, while the other appeared to be in extremely critical condition. However, both men soon perished at the scene before they were able to be treated. Our sentiments go out to those who work in such a treacherous environment.

Two window cleaners fell to their death from the 22nd floor of a downtown high-rise this afternoon when as a rope attached to their bodies suddenly snapped as they were cleaning the building's facade.

Witnesses said the accident happened around 1:40pm at a building at 889 Yan'an Road. They heard a bang and saw two workers lying on the ground. The workers first landed on a white car, then bounced off, leaving a depression on the car, witnesses said. The building's management company said they hired the two workers to clean the outer walls. There were four cleaners working on the building when the tragedy occurred.

Update: Two window cleaners working 22 floors up a high-rise plunged to their deaths yesterday, after a safety rope appeared to snap. The accident happened in heavy rain around 1:40pm at the Pacific Center at the crossing of Yan'an and Jiangsu roads in downtown Changing District.  Afterward, a rope that had secured the window cleaners could be seen, apparently snapped, hanging from the exterior of the building. Witnesses say they heard loud crashes and when they looked round they saw the two men lying on the ground. "I heard a bang as I was preparing to go out," said a resident living next to the office complex.

The workers fell from the 22nd floor while cleaning the exterior glass, police said. A car parked beneath the office building was damaged in the fall. The men were pronounced dead at the scene, their safety helmets, gloves and buckets scattered around their bodies. The bodies were not removed until around 4pm, as the police took photographs of the scene. Four workers had been cleaning the exterior glass on the 26-story building at the time of the incident, said witnesses.

The building's property management department said the team was hired to clean the exterior every four months. According to witnesses, one worker began to fall after his support rope snapped, taking with him a colleague he was linked to by a safety rope. "If it's true, then it was against all the rules, as workers should not be linked together," said a former window cleaner, surnamed Zhao, who worked in the business for six years. Zhao said each two-man team should be equipped with three ropes, with both workers hooking onto the middle one by a device called a latching lock, in addition to having their own safety ropes. "The lock will hold the workers even if one rope breaks," said Zhao. "They would just hang in the air instead of crashing to the ground." City work safety authorities said late yesterday that they were still investigating.
