Don Marsh has released his first audio podcast: This is the inaugural release of The Window Cleaning Podcast. In the background you will hear Plato doing his best Hound of the Baskervilles imitation. This podcast is only 10 minutes and 16 seconds long and it should not be too hard on the ears, and it is largely promotional in nature. Therefore, it is not for sale and it is not a part of the premium content. Don created this site to thin the herd, and make it possible for him to take time away from his window cleaning business to help those who are serious about starting window cleaning businesses of their own! I'm happy to promote Dons stuff, his blogs make a lot of sense & are easy listening. Every window cleaner should have a look in!
Mr Squeegee (aka Tony Evans) of New View Window Cleaning in Wellman, Iowa goes inside for a change & gives you hints & tips on customer care. You can now view all his videos together on his website here.Friday, 5 September 2008
The Gardiner Super-lite Pole ®
UK IPO Design Protected ® In conjunction with one of Europe's leading Carbon Fibre specialists, we have developed what we feel is the best way of cleaning high level windows with minimum strain. These poles are so light that they will completely change your method of working. Imagine working with a 45ft pole that weighs less than an 18ft glass fibre pole. It has been said that "it's not a race", but we believe that by using a 'Super-Lite' Water-Fed Pole an operator will be able to work faster with less strain than with any heavy telescopic pole or heavy-weight modular pole. Once you have tried the weight of these poles you will not want to go back to other 'ordinary' poles. Most other telescopic poles become almost unusable at above 45ft due to the length of the base sections. With the Super-Lite, all the sections are the same 5' 7" in length meaning that even average height workers can easily adjust the height of the pole. These poles are part of a modular system that provides quick and easy adaptability. The base SL-35 comes as a 6-section pole with each section pushing into the section above using a super-stiff taper joint. The pole has an external hose which velcro's to the pole allowing quick and easy detachment of sections whilst in use. All other longer pole packages simply add extra base sections and come with appropriately longer hose lengths. The Super-Lite brush weighs an incredible 220g and only 360g with aluminium G-Fit gooseneck attached, which means less weight at your full extension, equalling less strain.
Super-Lite Poles - What work are they suited to? These type of poles are currently being used throughout the country (UK) by hundreds of operators who enjoy the benefits of a super light pole. They are particularly suited to commercial work where there is a high volume of repetitive work, even at modest heights. They can also be used on any type of work where windows of a high level are encountered. Once you are working with the pole on the job there is no need to change poles for lower work, simply remove sections and carry on working. Even with just one section attached they are ideal for ground floor window cleaning. Whilst we personally would recommend a telescopic pole (perhaps the new 26ft SL-X) for domestic or smaller properties, many users throughout the country find that the benefits of the Super-Lite are such that they use them on most of their work. These poles are ideal for workers with previous injuries or work related strains as they allow the user to continue with pole work where it would not otherwise be possible.
U.S.A. based? No problem.

The SL-X Water Fed Pole

Alex Gardiner of Gardiner Pole Systems releases a few more video's of the SL-X water fed pole. From the Gardiner Website: Enjoy the strength and lightness of Carbon-Fibre with the compactness of a truly versatile pole. Fully telescopic pole with the ultimate strength of high-technology Carbon-Fibre material. Easily allows you to clean ground floor windows and reach third storey windows with the same pole. Replaces several different poles at one go. Meets and exceeds all HSE recommendations. It has easy action quick-release clamps that allow for low drag extending of each section, low friction section surface allows for super-fast extending/ retracting and minimum wear of each section. Lightweight, compact alloy clamps are stronger and 30% lighter than equivalent plastic/nylon clamps. Sections can be simply removed if you require a shorter pole. Reach 29' 9"ft, Actual length 24' 9"(without gooseneck). Weight 1540g, Closed length 5ft 7 inches, Base diameter 35mm.

Gardiners Superlite

Typical, by the time you get your act together & manage to perfect a really light pole, Alex Gardiner goes & does it for you. Here are some endurance video's of the poles being whacked against trees, sat on etc. Click on the pictures & logo's to watch. These poles look really amazing on the video & feedback has been great. As I mentioned earlier the only contender for the Super-lite is the Emporium pole from Alan in Hamilton. These poles are slightly lighter than Alex's, but what do you go for? Strength or durability.
