All prototypes were extensively trialled in the field before final designs went into production. Glidex® Ultra-stiff Alloy Channels: Made from anodised high temper aircraft grade aluminium, Glidex channels are four times more rigid than traditional brass or stainless steel channels. The unique Glidex channel design ensures even pressure across the entire rubber blade eliminating ‘tip lay-off’. Glidex channels offer a superior release angle when squeegeeing into tight corners such as aluminium box frames. For added convenience there is also an extra groove to alter the squeegee angle to suit various site conditions or user preference. Glidex channels come in 12 widths from 150mm (6 inches) to 910mm (36 inches). All channels are supplied with squeegee blade and easy to use stainless steel retaining clips.
Adjustable Swivel HeadThe adjustable swivel head is standard on all Glidex squeegee handles and T-bar washers, giving them the versatility to work in any situation. All Glidex handles have the unique Safe-ConnectTM feature for use with Glidex poles. The Glidex swivel handle can be fixed through almost 180°. There is a convenient self–righting click to re establish the 90° configuration. The Glidex Safe-ConnectTM pole latch attachment means effortless attachment and release of Glidex squeegees and T-bar washers. There is a unique double action lever-lock feature for both safety and convenience. The first lever action allows easy offsetting of the channel without the danger of an accidental channel release. The second action allows a controlled release for a quick channel change. For those who prefer a longer grip there is the new GH2 safety swivel handle which incorporates a convenient lanyard fixing point. Ideal for hi-rise work!
Glidex® Squeegee BladesGlidex blades are made from a compound like no other. Six years of dedicated research went into the development of a blade compound, based on highest quality natural rubber, that could be manufactured to give the truest edge and most durable performance where it matters. Where blade, water and glass meet. The unique, reversible twin life rubber profile ensures the second edge is completely protected until the blade is reversed. This means longer life and better performance from each blade. The Glidex ‘micro eye’ process ensures that every blade is manufactured totally free of imperfections. Glidex blades are available in 12 lengths ranging from 150mm (6 inches) to 910mm (36 inches). When fitting the T-bar washer handle or squeegee handle to the pole, Glidex’s innovative Safe-ConnectTM latch feature does away with the need to jamb handles onto the pole.
Glidex® Squeegee Swivel Handle Moulded in hi-impact Nylon 66Glidex squeegee swivel handles are ergonomically shaped to fit the hand. They are both lightweight and incredibly tough. Choose from the standard GH1 squeegee swivel handle, or for those who prefer a longer grip, the new GH2 safety swivel handlewhich incorporates a conveniently placed lanyard fixing point. The GH2 offers the ultimate in safety for hi-rise work.
Ergonomically Speaking Professional window cleaning is demanding physical work. Equipment that is ill-balanced, awkward to grip or uncomfortable to use can build up damaging levels of strain in the operator. Glidex is designed to balance the weight of the channel head to the glass, which results in a little less energy spent with every sweep. The fingers receive extra support in the handgrip, a fact well appreciated by the cleaners who trialled Glidex. Every operational action, the lengthening of an extension pole, the rotation of the T-bar swivel handle or the switching of a blade has been carefully studied and designed so that it can be carried out with routine ease–even when you are 40 floors up.
Material GainMany existing systems still employ brass in castings and moving parts or inferior plastic compounds that do not possess sufficient mechanical strength or durability. Glidex is made from aircraft grade aluminium and hi-impact Nylon 66–light but incredibly tough and long-lasting. All moving parts are made from self-lubricating hi-density polymer, which will remain smooth and unworn through thousands of operations (unlike traditional brass fittings). The greatest and most important difference is in the Glidex squeegee blade. The high quality rubber-based compound is the result of years of rigorous testing to establish exactly the right balance between durability and ease of use while maintaining a perfect streak-free edge. This unique compound is not simply moulded but slit under high pressure to unrivalled and exacting standards of true finish, using purpose-built equipment. Other blades, literally, don’t come close.
