Window Washer Rescue Downtown Cleveland

A window washer was rescued Monday morning after becoming stranded while dangling outside a Cleveland building. It happened shortly before 11 a.m. on E. 9th Street and Teresa Court.

Window washer rescued in downtown Cleveland (Downtown Cleveland, OH) - A window washer was plucked from the side of a downtown Cleveland building in a dramatic rescue Monday. Firefighters performed a rope rescue at East 9th and Theresa Lane. They were called to the scene around 10:15 a.m. It's believed an equipment malfunction left the worker stranded about stories up. Firefighters went on the roof and lowered him down. He was not injured and went back to work.

Cleveland firefighters helped rescue a window washer who became trapped on a ledge downtown by setting up a rope system. When crews arrived, they found the window washer on a ledge on the 13th floor of a building at East 9th Street and Theresa Court. The man told emergency crews that his carabiner clip broke, but he wasn't concerned about falling and was just going to continue cleaning.

Cleveland firefighters rescued a window washer who was stuck on the 13th floor ledge of a downtown building. The man became trapped about 10:20 a.m. Monday outside the IMG Center on East 9th Street near Theresa Court.

Cleveland fire spokesman Larry Gray said the crew decided the best way to help the man was by safely bringing him down. He was on the ledge for a total of about 30 minutes, authorities said. EMS checked out the man and he was found to be in good condition.

He was stuck for about a half hour before firefighters arrived. The man was washing windows when the hook connecting him to his harness broke, fire officials said. Cleveland firefighters went to the roof and set up a pulley system so the man could scale the building and lower himself to the ground. The man was checked by paramedics and then went back to work. East 9th street was partially blocked during the rescue.

Detroit building gets a window scrubbing as spring approaches (Detroit, MI) - The air might still sting the face, but there's a small sign that spring is close by in downtown Detroit. The 1301 Broadway St. building down the street from Punch Bowl Social downtown had its windows cleaned Thursday morning while the sun beat through the wintery cold. The building is owned by Bedrock Real Estate Services, the real estate arm of of Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert.

According to Bedrock Chief Operating Officer Tamara Knapp, the window cleanings happen every spring and fall as a part of regular building maintenance. "Bedrock, like most property management companies, does window cleaning...as part of our regular building maintenance," Knapp said. "Sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference...having clean windows to let the sun shine in creates a bright, uplifting environment for our retail and office tenants in downtown Detroit.

"Bedrock is committed to the highest standards of excellence in property management and building maintenance." The Broadway building is set to be the future location of former pop-up restaurant Guns & Butter. The upper floors are used for office space. According to Robin Schwartz, Bedrock spokeswoman, the company has had a bit of fun with the cleaning in the past. The window washers dressed in sports uniforms in 2013 while they washed the windows. Through Bedrock and Rock Ventures, Gilbert owns 70 properties in downtown Detroit, amounting to over 10 million square of real estate. He's invested $1.6 billion in the city.

DETROIT - Scary moments for a window washer who ended up dangling by his feet on the side of a building near downtown Detroit. The man was washing windows on a building in the 900 block of Henry when something happened to his gear. He slipped and got stuck hanging by his feet.

Detroit emergency crews responded and were able to free the man within a matter of minutes. His coworker was preparing to go up with him to help wash windows when he looked up and saw him dangling.
